Sharing the Big Dipper

The early work that Lionel did assisting photographers as a boy, began to take shape through his own camera. Simple but important techniques like tossing the sand, and using the wind to move dust and gravel began honing Lionel’s eye to create the impact seen in his photography. Night photos became particularly intriguing to Lionel, and the juxtapose of star formations like the Big Dipper added an artistic edge unknown to the common white man’s photography. Lionel learned how to read weather patterns through the stars and this photo was taken during monsoon season when weather can change on a dime, and light can be especially reflective.
